Our Mission

Our Mission

The NAACP is a non-profit, non-partisan organization with a mission to ensure the economic, political, and social rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and discrimination.

First established in Maine in the 1920s, there are now three branches in operation: Greater Bangor Area, the Maine State Prison located in Warren, and Portland.

The NAACP Portland branch is the oldest and proudly celebrating its 51st anniversary.
